Fire Resistance Ratings: column_sfrm
Fire resistance ratings for building assemblies per UL/ASTM E119 — IBC Table 601 construction-type requirements (Types IA through VB), CMU wall equivalent-thickness ratings by aggregate type, gypsum board on steel/wood stud assemblies, concrete slab and wall thicknesses, composite steel deck/concrete floors, spray-applied fireproofing (SFRM) for columns and beams by W/D ratio, concrete-encased column ratings, and fire door assembly ratings (20-minute through 3-hour). | assembly category | record id | assembly description | assembly type | construction material | fire rating hr (hr) | key materials | notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| column_sfrm | column_sfrm_1hr_high_wd | Steel Column SFRM — 1 Hour — High W/D Ratio | column | structural_steel_with_sfrm | 1 | W-shape_steel_column, spray_applied_SFRM | W/D > 0.75: SFRM thickness ≈ 1.5-in for 1-hour; thicker coating required for lighter sections with more exposed perimeter per unit mass |
| column_sfrm | column_sfrm_1hr_low_wd | Steel Column SFRM — 1 Hour — Low W/D Ratio | column | structural_steel_with_sfrm | 1 | W-shape_steel_column, spray_applied_SFRM | W/D ≤ 0.37: SFRM thickness ≈ 0.50-in for 1-hour; W/D = heated perimeter-to-cross-section-area ratio (in/in²); lower W/D = more mass per unit area = thinner coating needed |
| column_sfrm | column_sfrm_2hr_high_wd | Steel Column SFRM — 2 Hour — High W/D Ratio | column | structural_steel_with_sfrm | 2 | W-shape_steel_column, spray_applied_SFRM | W/D > 0.75: SFRM thickness ≈ 2.0-in for 2-hour; UL listed product required |
