Terms of Service
1. Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using Engineering Database at engDatabase.com (“Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
The Service is operated by engDatabase.com (“we,” “us,” or “our”). We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
2. Description of Service
Engineering Database provides authenticated access to engineering reference data across structural, mechanical, electrical, civil, chemical, and aerospace domains. The Service includes:
- Reference data search. Structured queries against our catalog of engineering reference tables.
- Calculators. Engineering calculators for unit conversion, section properties, fluid flow, beam analysis, and related routine calculations. Calculators are free to use and do not require an account.
- Knowledge datasets. Curated reference content available to paid subscribers.
3. Engineering Data Disclaimer
Important
All data and calculator results provided through this Service are for reference purposes only. They are not a substitute for professional engineering judgment, licensed design work, or verification against primary sources (AISC, ASME, ASHRAE, NEC, ACI, or other governing standards and codes).
You are solely responsible for verifying the accuracy, applicability, and completeness of any data or calculation retrieved through the Service before using it in any engineering analysis, design, construction, or decision-making process. We make no representation that the data or calculator outputs are error-free, current, or suitable for any particular application.
The Service does not provide engineering advice and does not replace the services of a licensed professional engineer.
4. Accounts and Registration
To access the Service beyond the free tier, you must create an account by providing a valid email address and password. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
You agree to provide accurate information during registration and to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.
5. Subscription Plans and Billing
The Service uses a credit model. Searches against the reference tables consume credits from a pool tied to your subscription tier. Calculator runs are free of credit charge.
The Service offers the following tiers:
- Free: 50 credits per month. No cost.
- Plus: 1,000 credits per day. $8 per month if billed monthly ($96 per year), or $80 per year if billed annually.
- Pro: Unlimited credits subject to fair use. $20 per month if billed monthly ($240 per year), or $200 per year if billed annually.
- Enterprise: Custom credit volume and contract terms. Contact sales.
Current pricing and credit allowances are shown on the pricing page and are authoritative if they differ from this summary. We reserve the right to update tier definitions, credit costs, and pricing.
Paid subscriptions are billed monthly or annually through Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize recurring charges to your selected payment method on the chosen billing interval. You may cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not provide prorated refunds for partial billing periods or for unused credits.
We reserve the right to modify pricing with 30 days’ advance notice. Price changes will not apply to the current billing period.
Non-metered endpoints (schema browsing, table catalog, unit lookups, alternatives lookups) are free across all tiers and are subject only to general rate limits.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Attempt to scrape, bulk-download, or systematically extract the contents of our reference tables, calculator outputs, or knowledge datasets.
- Circumvent rate limits, usage quotas, credit accounting, or any access controls.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code, table schemas, prompts, or underlying algorithms of the Service.
- Use the Service or its outputs to build a competing product, dataset, or model, including using Service outputs as training data for any machine learning model.
- Share account credentials or allow multiple users to access a single account (except under Enterprise agreements).
- Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to access the Service beyond documented API usage.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with or without notice.
7. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its search engine, table schemas, data curation, user interface, and documentation, is the proprietary property of engDatabase.com and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
Engineering reference data served through the Service is curated from publicly available standards and references. Individual data points (e.g., a steel section’s moment of inertia) are factual and not subject to copyright. However, the curated collection, schema design, search infrastructure, and presentation are proprietary.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, engDatabase.com shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to damages resulting from reliance on data obtained through the Service.
Our total aggregate liability for any claims arising from or related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.
9. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement.
We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any data will be accurate or complete.
10. Termination
You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us or through the account settings. We may terminate or suspend your access at our discretion for violation of these Terms or for any other reason with reasonable notice, except in cases of egregious violations where immediate termination may be necessary.
Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately. Sections 3, 7, 8, 9, and 11 survive termination.
11. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Oregon, United States, without regard to conflict of law provisions.
