Liquid Liquid Extraction: extractor_type
Liquid-liquid extraction design data from Perry's Section 15: partition coefficients K (wt% basis) for ~150 solute/solvent systems, Godfrey solvent miscibility numbers (polarity scale 1-31), interfacial tension by solvent class and in ternary systems, and extractor type selection data (features, production rates) for mixer-settlers, columns, and centrifugal extractors.
| data type | row id | extractor category | general features | industrial applications |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| extractor_type | Centrifugal_extractors | Centrifugal extractors | Short contact time for unstable solutes; minimal space requirements (footprint and height); can handle systems with low density difference or tendency to emulsify | Petrochemical, Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Nuclear |
| extractor_type | Mixer-settlers | Mixer-settlers (stirred vessels with integral or external settling zones) | Can deliver high stage efficiencies with long residence time; can handle high-viscosity liquids; adjustable in the field; handles systems with low to high interfacial tension; can handle very high production rates | Petrochemical, Nuclear, Fertilizer, Metallurgical |
| extractor_type | Pulsed_columns | Pulsed columns (packed or sieve tray) | No internal moving parts; moderate to high efficiency; handles moderate production rates; well suited to highly corrosive or toxic feeds requiring hermetically sealed system | Nuclear, Petrochemical, Metallurgical |
