AP-42 Particle Size Distributions
EPA AP-42 Fifth Edition Appendix B.1 particle size distribution data and sized emission factors for 49 industrial source-process combinations. Each record gives cumulative weight percent of particles below 2.5, 6.0, or 10.0 µm aerodynamic diameter, plus the corresponding sized PM emission factor (kg/Mg, kg/bale, kg/hr, or kg/1000 batteries), for both uncontrolled and controlled (post-control-device) conditions. Sources: Combustion (bagasse boilers, municipal waste incinerators), coatings (auto spray booths, carbon black), chemicals (ammonium sulfate, sulfuric acid, boric acid, potash), food/agriculture (cotton ginning, grain mills, rice/cereal/alfalfa dryers, carob roaster), mineral processing (coal cleaning, lightweight aggregate, phosphate rock, talc, feldspar, fluorspar), metallurgical (primary aluminum, steel foundry shakeout and open hearth), and manufacturing (storage batteries, batch tinner, woodworking).
