About 200-series stainless steels

200-series grades substitute manganese and nitrogen for some of the nickel found in the 300-series. They have similar corrosion behavior to 304 in mild environments at lower alloy cost but reduced performance in chloride and pitting service. Cold work hardens them more aggressively than the 300-series.
