About ASTM A572 HSLA structural steel

A572 is a high-strength low-alloy structural steel produced in Grade 42, 50, 55, 60, and 65 (yield strength in ksi). Grade 50 has largely replaced A36 in modern building and bridge design because the strength-to-cost ratio is better. Wide-flange beams (W-shapes) are typically supplied to A992, which is similar but tighter on chemistry.
