Glulam species group. NDS 14.1.1 restricts timber rivets to Douglas Fir-Larch or Southern Pine glulam only — no other species, no sawn lumber, no LVL, no CLT.

Rivet length in inches. Standard NDS lengths: 1.5, 2.5, 3.5 in. Note: rivet_length=3.5 with col_spacing=1.0 is not supported (corrupt source table — use 1.5 spacing instead).

Steel side-plate thickness in inches. NDS 14.2.4 sets minimum 1/4 in for full Pr/Qr; thinner plates apply Cst < 1.0 (1/8 in -> Cst = 0.80, linear in between). If omitted, defaults to 0.25 in.

Glulam member net thickness in inches. NDS Tables 14.2.1A/B tabulate 3, 5, 6.75, 8.5+; Tables 14.2.1C/D/F tabulate 5, 6.75, 8.5, 10.5, 12.5+. Common glulam widths: 3.125, 5.125, 6.75, 8.5 in. If omitted, defaults to 6.75 in.

Number of rivet rows per side plate (rows are perpendicular to grain, counted along load axis per NDS 14.2). Tables tabulate 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12; intermediate values round down (conservative). If omitted, defaults to 4.

Number of rivets in each row (along grain per NDS 14.2). Range 2-20 for Pw; range 2-13 for Qw. If omitted, defaults to 4.

Rivet spacing parallel to grain (sp) in inches. NDS Tables 14.2.1A/C/E use sp=1.0; Tables 14.2.1B/D/F use sp=1.5. Note: rivet_length=3.5 only supports sp=1.5 (Table 14.2.1E omitted).

Rivet spacing perpendicular to grain (sq) in inches. Affects qw lookup only — Pw tables 14.2.1A-F all use sq=1.0. Choose 1.5 for wider perpendicular spacing if pattern allows it.

End distance from rivet to member end (a) parallel to grain, in inches. NDS Table 14.3.2 minimum is 3.0 in for nR <= 8 rivets, growing to 8.0 in for nR >= 17. Geometry warnings reported below minimum.

Distance from loaded edge to nearest rivet (eq), in inches. NDS minimum is 2.0 in regardless of row count. Used to compute C∆ for perpendicular-to-grain wood capacity.

Distance from unloaded edge to nearest rivet (ep), in inches. NDS minimum is 1.0 in. Used as ep in C∆ ratio ep/((nc-1)·sq) for perpendicular loading.

Load direction relative to grain. 'parallel' returns P = min(Pr, Pw); 'perpendicular' returns Q = min(Qr, Qw) with C∆ geometry adjustment.

True if rivets are installed in member end grain (50% reduction per NDS 14.2.5). Standard side-grain installation is False. If omitted, defaults to False.

Factored (LRFD) lateral load per side plate, in pounds. Recommended: enables D/C ratio check. If omitted, only capacity is reported.

Load duration factor per NDS Table 2.3.2. Typical: 1.0 (occupancy live), 0.9 (dead), 1.15 (snow), 1.6 (wind/seismic). Applies to wood-mode capacity only — rivet capacity is unaffected per NDS 14.2.4. If omitted, defaults to 1.0.

Service moisture condition. 'wet' applies CM = 0.8 to wood capacity per NDS 14.2.4. If omitted, defaults to 'dry' (CM = 1.0).

Service temperature. 'elevated' (>100F sustained, wet) applies Ct = 0.7 per NDS Table 2.3.3. If omitted, defaults to 'normal'.
